AAA Irving TX Dispatch Wanting to Refuse Roadside Assistance
Mar 31, 2008
AAA complaint by Wheresgeorge
I believe the AAA Irving TX Dispatch office was trying to invent excuses and discriminate against sending a Service Truck to help me change a flat tire on my travel trailer.

My AAA membership dues include RV Roadside Assistance. The day before I called Roadside Assistance, I confirmed with AAA membership that AAA would help change a flat tire on my travel trailer at Isle Du Bois campground in Ray Roberts Lake State Park. The AAA Irving TX Dispatch office first excuse for not sending a Service Truck was that I needed to confirm that I could remove my spare tire with my own tools. The tool needed was an adjustable wrench.

I needed a 4 arm lug nut wrench to remove the flat tire. The AAA Irving TX Dispatch office's additional excuse for not sending a Service Truck was that they needed to confirm if the driver carried such a 4 arm lug nut wrench to remove a flat tire.

By the time the AAA Irving Dispatch office agreed to send a Service Truck, the driver was told I was located in Pilot Point TX. The driver was not given the exact street address as I reported to AAA when I called for Roadside Assistance. This caused additional delay. The response time was 2 hours and 45 minutes on a Saturday afternoon.

In the meantime, we managed to change the flat tire on our travel trailer before the AAA Service Truck arrived with the help of a neighboring camper's socket wrench set. Also, the driver confirmed that he carried a wrench in his truck.

My complaint with AAA Roadside Assistance is that I paid for Roadside Assistance. On the AAA website, the requirement for helping change a flat tire is a working spare tire. I communicated that I had a working spare tire. The AAA website does not say I need to provide tools such as wrenches to remove a spare tire or a 4 arm lug nut wrench to remove the flat tire. I believe the AAA Irving TX Dispatch office was trying to invent excuses and discriminate against sending a Service Truck to help me change a flat tire on my travel trailer.

Also, the poor communication between in the AAA Irvning Dispatch office and the Service Truck driver in communicating my exact address caused wasteful mileage to be billed to the AAA and a wasteful Service call since we had 2 hours and 45 minutes to figure out how to remove our lug nuts.
